WAXING - a painful habit but a necessity. Go to Australia and most salons there uses a virtually pain-free strip-less wax called Lycon and Adore have it now in Cork city.

There's only one way to test this pain-free claim out and that's to book in for a bikini wax when feeling grumpy! First. therapist Michelle applied a natural oil before applying the wax. This ensures that the wax only sticks to the hair and not to the skin. Then she applied the wax and whipped it off.

Do you notice it, yes. Does it hurt like normal wax? No. Not even close. The anticipation is the worst part, along with the usual blushes that go with a bikini wax. Put it this way, I was quite capable of holding a conversation the whole time, didn't yelp once and barely tensed up throughout.

I was a bit red straight after, but some after-wax cream ensured that didn't last and when I left the salon an hour later, the redness was gone. I will never, ever have a bikini wax done again unless it is Lycon.
